Once a year, we gather on a magical land where camping, swimming, loud music and mother nature unite for a common cause – to reconnect and return us to balance, as we get away from the every-day routine of daily life.
For one special weekend each summer, come dance under the stars and experience what it’s like to be free, to be always groovin’ to those awesome electronic beats.
Join us in what has become a yearly celebration of the music we play… and the friends we have come to know and love.
—ALWEEZGROOVEN—
NOW TWICE THE FUN AT THE SAME GREAT PRICE.. * FREE *
July 9th – July 12th, 2010
lac Dumont, Quebec, Canada
WHAT IS IT?
‘Alweezgrooven’ is a free festival held at lac Dumont, Quebec. It is located about 2 hours north of Ottawa and takes place on the second weekend of July.
It is held on Crown Land, which means zero chance of being shut down by local authorities. This location has been used for many years for this very purpose and always without any issues.
Unlike most festivals where you pay to get in, here you don’t have to be searched by pesky security, there are no fences or gates, no waiting lines, no tickets, no profit is being made. You are free to come and go whenever you like.
While it is a free party, everyone is encouraged to participate fully in many different ways: bring your drums, bring your instruments, bring your art and most of all, bring positive energy.
WHEN DOES IT START?
The journey begins at noon on Friday and music does not stop until Monday. There is some quiet time on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Depending entirely on how many people remain, it is not uncommon to hear music well into Monday night. You should consider booking the Monday off and stay the extra day – it’s well worth it.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC?
The music you will hear varies due to the ‘open decks’ concept that always draws many aspiring DJs and artists. On most nights, you will hear styles ranging from broken beats, house, tech, trance and dub, right to tech-house and various levels of minimal. When mornings arrive, you can expect to hear most appropriate techno and trance we can deliver. Later part of the morning and afternoons bring dubstep, progressive, chill and ambient sounds to calm your senses from the night before and to prepare you for the night ahead.
WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO?
Apart from a picturesque view of lac Dumont and the surrounding mountains, there is plenty to see and do. From hiking or swimming out into the huge lake from sand-covered beaches, to watching dazzling fire poi and fireworks, the lake offers a lot of fun for everyone. This is a DIY (Do It Yourself) festival, which means you can bring a variety of supplies to improve your experience.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
There is 100% FREE ENTRY to camping, parking, music and nature. You will need a way to get there/back, and you will need to bring supplies for the duration of your stay. Remember, there is nothing bought or sold on this land and there is no running water or electricity. The closest store to buy supplies i.e. food, drink, gas, firewood, etc. is about 24km away in Cayamant.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Bring potable water, ice, warm clothes, food, a first aid kit, firewood, rain gear, flash lights, bug spray, sunblock and anything else you may need to enjoy your weekend. Also, bring anything that might improve the overall experience of the festival. After all, it is yours to build and grow. Most importantly, bring your friends and positive energy!
I’M A DJ. HOW DO I GET A SLOT?
Simple – bring music! There are no slots – more like… ‘blocks’ of time. Typically, most DJs play 1 or 2 hours. You can play any musical style you like and will get to play whenever a spot becomes available. Also, try to maintain a flow to the weekend and play accordingly depending on the time of day/night, while still maintaining your sound:
Friday noon – 9pm = open decks
______9pm – 9am = guests, open decks
Saturday 9am – 3pm = open decks, chill
________3pm – 6pm = break

note: above times are approximate and only serve as a general guideline.
