About

Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to play music for people. I was a ‘DJ’ even back then and I didn’t even know it: I’ve always wanted to be the person who plays music for others. It didn’t matter how, or why – I simply enjoyed providing good music to everyone. And I still enjoy it very much.

On a very random afternoon in ’96, I walked into a small record shop in Ottawa. Right there, in a matter of seconds, my life took an instant, irreversible turn to music: I discovered techno music, techno music on vinyl, and mixing techno music on vinyl.

I remember saying: “Whoa, wait a second… they still make vinyl? And they make music like this? And they put it on vinyl?? And they mix it together to make a whole new sound???”

What a concept.

In disbelief, I watched a skilled DJ show me what real mixing is all about, how a DJ can ‘mix’ two records together in such a way that makes you feel like you are listening to an entirely new, different song. I was instantly amazed at the method of musical delivery, the energy within the music, the human interaction through physical contact with the media, and the aspect of mixing tracks in creative and exciting ways.

Over the years, I began to focus on serious DJing and dabbled in music production. I created Gunz & Bomz, a sort of promo company and music outlet for DJs and composers of elecronic music. Alweezgrooven was created in its place to give everyone a chance to be part of a feeling, a sense of connection to the music, a sense of being. It became a real collective of people of vast backgrounds and skills, people who share a love for music and life.

This is what I have always strived for and it is what I am still striving for: to groove to the music and to love life. The endless love, the passion and fun is all in the music, and in the people.

Good music. Good dance music. It’s the one thing that remains constant in life: music. This relentless beat, never ending, always beating at a steady rate. You can feel the pulse, the rhythm, the chug, the bang, the wobble, the shake – you can’t get enough of it. The music makes us feel alive, always.

We are grooving to the music… and I get the feeling I’ll be groovin’ to it for a long, long time. Why? Because music is everything.

It gives me peace.

It gives me joy.

It gives me life.

I am… Alweezgrooven.
